Intended Consequences
2. Expanding my resources by establishing a relationship with an international contact
Unintended Consequence
1. Comparing other countries' early childhood education systems to America and making negative judgements based on those comparisons
My one goal for the field related to international awareness would be for EC professionals around the world to collaborate to improve the field by using the best methods, practices, and policies from each country. If we join forces and work together we can ensure that all children receive quality care and education.
Krista,
ReplyDeleteI think you brought up a great point about Americans do not know everything. I use to always want to push my EC believes on others. By communicating with my contacts and reading other's blog post, it has reminded me that I am not always right. Being culturally sensitive includes understanding that we might be different but all that matters is taking care of what the children need.
Thanks for sharing!
Rhonda
Krista,
ReplyDeleteI agree that joining forces with others to provide the best of all areas of the field would be beneficial. There are so many different perspectives, considerations, and expectations within this field, not to mention the many different personalities and learning styles, so I can see why EC is so difficult to tackle and how high-quality programs are difficult to notice consistantly throughout the world. Thank you for sharing all of your international insights.
Amanda
As always I enjoyed reading your post. I do agree that we should join forces with other countries to benefit the early childhood field. We could all learn so much working together.
